SCOTT PATRICK CARSON- Founder and CSO Scott Patrick Carson serves as co-president of Med1Online, a company he founded in mid-2002. Med1Online is a distributor of new and reconditioned capital medical equipment (CME) to the health care industry and a provider of sales support services to medical equipment manufacturers.
Carson has more than 20 years of marketing, business development, sales and management experience. Most of his career has been focused on the medical equipment arena. He is a seasoned speaker, having presented on various topics at many industry trade association seminars.
In 1996, Carson founded, then sold in 1999, Denver-based US Medical, Inc., a leading distributor of capital medical equipment (CME) to the health care industry. Started in his basement, US Medical emerged 5 years later as a member of the Inc. 500.
Carson was named a finalist in the Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Award competition in both 2000 and 2001. In addition, US Medical was named among the Inc. 500's fastest growing companies in 2001. One of his companies was named a "Company to Watch" in 2001 by both of Denver's daily newspapers.
Carson served as national sales manager for Synaptic Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of medical equipment. From 1993 to 1996, he headed the substantial fiscal turnaround of that company, developing a national distribution pipeline through the creation of specialized sales seminars and field training programs, along with the implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies. He guided Synaptic in the acquisition of critical funding, via a successful Private Placement, and the assembly of a permanent management team committed to the same customer service and employee loyalty for which he helped the company become well respected.
Prior to his achievements with Synaptic, from 1989 to 1993, Carson pioneered and served as president and chief executive officer of Automotive Investment Group, Inc-a group of automotive service companies he acquired, reorganized, and redirected toward a common corporate focus. He assumed and styled the responsibilities of marketing, purchasing, asset management, P&L, human resources, operations, and diversification. After studying microbiology at Colorado State University, Carson enjoyed marketing and management successes at a number of corporations, while pursuing advanced professional training in marketing, customer service and corporate management.
DAN SMITH - Chief Operating Officer Dan has over 20-years of experience in the health care industry. His background includes engineering, sales, marketing, product management and business development. Dan co-founded Renal Management, Inc., a provider of hemodialysis treatments and facility management. As the Chief Operations Officer, he developed and implemented a business plan which included the creation of a corporate management team, corporate systems and the construction and management of 27 dialysis treatment centers in 7-sates in a 7-year period of time. Renal Management was sold to Gambro Health Care. Dan worked at Cobe Laboratories for 11 years where he started off in Quality and Field Engineering and transitioned to sales, and then to marketing where he held the positions of Worldwide Product Manager and Worldwide Marketing Manager. Dan has a broad perspective of the critical integration between operations and the customer support organizations.
JOHN HESS - Chief Technical Officer John Hess is Chief Technology Officer. John has more than 15 years of experience in technology management with a knack for business process re engineering and technology integration. John leads Med1Online's technology areas including; development, technical operations, administration, and telecommunications. As CTO, he coordinates Med1Online's development projects, aligning technology tools with business and customer needs.
Prior to this assignment, John successfully led a variety of different technology organizations. He was; CTO for Data Flare, a Colorado based RFID and Mesh network company, Vice President of Technology for Circadence Corporation and Director of Development for Planetoutdoors.com. He has also held director and management level positions in the testing and data storage industries, in firms ranging in size from start-ups to Fortune 500.
KELLY MCEWEN - Vice President, Finance and Accounting Kelly has 17 years of combined public accounting and private industry financial experience. Starting his career with Arthur Andersen in Denver, Kelly had the opportunity to assist clients in many industries including medical and manufacturing. As Director of Accounting for Renal Management, Inc., Kelly successfully managed the financial systems and reporting for multiple operations and entities for 6 years until the sale of the operations in 2001. Most recently Kelly was the Director of Finance for Hotel Teatro, a luxury hotel operating in downtown Denver. Kelly takes over as the senior executive in the Finance and Accounting departments responsible for the continued improvement in systems, procedures and reporting for Med1 and affiliates. Overall with his public accounting experience as a CPA(currently inactive) in both audit and tax engagements and his relevant industry experience, Kelly brings solid financial knowledge and operational skills to the Med1 management team.
